Super Tuscan Style Sangiovese

Gemelli wines are hand crafted in small lots from estate grown fruit. We use extended aging to assure a wine with exceptional depth and complexity. The composition is 90% Sangiovese (Montalcino clone) and 10% small berry Merlot.

Our vineyard is located in the cooler western portion of the Santa Ynez Valley, which allows for a long hang time. We harvest our grapes in late October or early November to achieve optimal ripeness.

We craft Gemelli with minimal intervention and have the wine age in large oak casks (600 liter puncheons) for three years before bottling.

Production quantities are typically 120 cases per year.

2010 Gemelli Tasting Notes

2010 was an exceptional year for Gemelli. We experienced an excellent growing season with a good temperature profile. The fruit was harvested in late October; both the Sangiovese and Merlot were picked at the same time, creating a field blend. After primary fermentation, long natural malolactic fermentation was allowed to take its course, to assure an exceptionally smooth, integrated wine.

One of the outstanding qualities of the 2010 is the incredibly silky mouth feel. Combined with flavors of dark cherries, plums, and currants, and a long, flawless finish, you are in for a most satisfying wine drinking experience.
